Arleen

Arleen Goodwin Rounds was born September 10, 1905, in Lehi, Utah, the seventh child of Samuel and Olena Anderson Goodwin. Arleen graduated from Lehi High School and attended Salt Lake Business College. Using this business knowledge, she worked at the Lehi Post Office, the Lehi State Bank, and at the Alpine School District.

She met Clifford Rounds when the family moved to Inglewood, California. They married February 6, 1948, in the Mesa Arizona LDS Temple. Though they had no children together, she finished raising her stepson as if he were her own. Arleen also had a motherly love for their nieces and nephews. Arleen and Cliff lived in Glendale and Palm Desert, California, and Boise, Idaho, before they built their dream home in Bloomington, Utah, in 1977.

Arleen was a masterful teacher, always studying diligently and praying for inspiration for her various LDS Church callings. The Stake M-Men Gleaner class she taught in Boise, Idaho, grew to well over 100 students. Many thought her Relief Society spiritual living lessons were among the best they had ever heard. She and Cliff also served a successful stake mission together. Arleen spent many happy hours performing sealing and other ordinances in the St. George LDS Temple. She was an avid reader and won a church writing contest.

Arleen cherished her immediate and extended family. She sang in a trio with her sisters, Thelma and LaPriel, which became very popular in Lehi, Utah, and in California. She was actively concerned for others, always charitable and generous.

Arleen Goodwin Rounds, 93, passed away peacefully at her home in St. George on September 12, 1998.

Survivors include two sisters, LaPriel Wilson and Arema Dalton; stepson, Clifford (Dianna) Rounds; stepdaughter, Carole Rounds; six grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, parents, three brothers and three sisters.

Internment at the Lehi City Cemetery.
