Gudmundur's Cap

-->
Gundmundur's Cap

Written by Austin Gudmundsen as related by Alva Garff Wilson

Alva Garff Wilson, a second cousin, came to see us (Austin and Myrl Gudmundsen) while living in Inglewood. She related her story to us then, and also we met her in the L. A. Temple and walked home with her. She rented an apartment just across the road from the Temple.

She told us of seeing her Step-Grandfather, Gudmundur Gudmundsson, after he had died. She was a small girl. (About 8 years old)  Grandfather Gudmundsen had passed away at their home at Logan where he was all prepared (dressed in his Temple robes) and placed in a coffin. In the night he appeared to Alva and smiled at her. Also he took off his cap and turned it around to the other side. She told her father about it the next morning, and her father and brothers opened the coffin and saw they had put his robes and cap on wrong. It affected the testimonies of all those assembled, and kept them in line with the Gospel.
